What is it like to work with us? Part II: Schematic Design

What is “schematic design?”

Schematic design is the phase where your goals are tested against the project parameters established in predesign.

What do we do?

We test design concepts — layouts, volumes, and other spatial relationships — in an iterative fashion. We identify a few different approaches to solving each design problem, which become design options.

What does it look like?

Your goals are translated into spatial building blocks. This visualization helps us to confirm that we are understanding your needs correctly.
We study the potential relationships between these blocks — both functionally and experientially — through the lens of the unique way you relate to your space.

The process of design iteration helps us to find the optimum solution. Reviewing multiple options — and the pros and cons of each — helps us to learn even more about your expectations.
