NATURAL VOLUME

Once a small school, this commercial space is being transformed for a new exciting workplace, hairstyling! The revitalized Artemis Salon divides its interior into two realms: a hair salon and spa. The hair salon occupies the largest volume, capitalizing on the presence of two existing skylights and daylight censored ambient lighting to provide adequate lighting for the stylists. A shift of material serves as a visual and functional separation between the hair salon and spa areas. As you transition into the spa, visitors are greeted by a vibrant green wall and soft, soothing lighting that sets the mood for relaxation. All materials are kept natural and cozy with cork flooring, warm flooring, and calming shades of green throughout the space.

SPACE TO COLLABORATE

This interior project focuses on select areas within an otherwise ready to use, commercial office suite. The reception space takes advantage of the substantial amount of unused floorplate to create a comfortable lounge that visitors are drawn into via a slatted wood ceiling. At the core of the suite is a large staff lounge and pantry that encourages interaction between employees and provides an exciting workplace outside of their individual offices. A few tweaks allow an existing conference room with operable glass partitions to be the perfect multi-purpose space to host team meetings, larger breakout sessions, lectures, and cocktail parties alike. The addition of a private restroom – clad in porcelain stone, with filtered views to K Street below – elevates the executive suite experience.
