Inspired by her sister’s legacy of community building, the owner envisioned The Renata as more than just housing — it’s a model for how we can live well together. Welcome to The Renata: a place rooted in the belief that community is essential to our wellbeing, where connection, care, and resilience among neighbors are part of daily life.
Located in a middle-income neighborhood in NE Washington, DC, the Renata reimagines three two-story rowhomes as a six-unit Micro-Community. Featuring multigenerational housing for the “missing middle,” The units range in size from 2 to 4 bedrooms, with a shared entry and courtyard amenity space.

The design is rooted in the idea that community is central to our wellbeing. Humans are a social species — we like to gather, and we need each other to thrive. By living closer and looking out for one another, we strengthen our social fabric, building a stronger neighborhood and a stronger city.

By living more closely and intentionally, we begin to restore the social fabric — strengthening neighborhoods, supporting families, and building a more connected city
